Literacy is not listed as a separate competency in the Competency Index, but it is noted in the following:

  • Public Service Competencies - Adult & Older Adult Services, Children's Services, Patron Training, Young Adult Services

Digital Literacy is considered as a separate topic.

Training Needs Assessment Rankings

Literacy ranked #23 out of 60 topics staff would like training in.  It was not identified as an urgent training need. 48% (53) of respondents indicated they would like training at the Beginner level, 33% (37) would like training at the Intermediate level, and 19% (21) would like training at the Advanced level.
