Libraries have the capacity to inspire, engage, and support community members of all ages. Libraries provide an array of opportunities for adult patrons from diverse backgrounds. Adult services staff:
Define and implement outreach services for the library community to increase use of library services and to reach underserved populations
Use online tools and communities to engage with and provide services to users.
Design, implement, and sponsor library programs that provide opportunities for information, entertainment, and lifelong learning
Assist users with choosing popular and recreational reading, viewing, and listening choices
Develop strategies and sources to stay well-informed as a readers’ advisor
Develop and maintain a collection of reference resources to meet community needs
Facilitate library users’ requests for information
Demonstrate ability to meet information-seeking needs of users

Adult Services ranked #26 out of 51 self-identified urgent training needs. It ranked #9 out of 60 topics staff would like training in. 44% (58) of respondents indicated they would like training at the Beginner level, 30% (40) would like training at the Intermediate level, and 25% (33) would like training at the Advanced level.
