Definition - WJ Competency Index

After materials are selected, they are acquired and processed. The goal is to provide responsive and proactive service to users through timely and efficient processing. Acquisitions staff:

  • Manage the processes by which library materials are ordered, received and tracked.
  • Manage the expenditures and accounting for acquisitions.

The Competency Index for the Library Field includes Acquisition & Processing on pages 14 & 15.

Training Needs Assessment Rankings

Acquisiton ranked #23 out of 51 self-identified urgent training needs.  It ranked #19 out of 60 topics staff would like training in.  55% (64) of respondents indicated they would like training at the Beginner level, 24% (28) would like training at the Intermediate level, and 21% (24) would like training at the Advanced level.
