What is the DHSS Impact Award?

The DHSS Impact Award (previously called RIH Day) is a judged competition that provides an opportunity for DHSS employees to be recognized for their exceptional work. No project is too big or too small! If your work made a difference this year or you have an exciting idea you want to share, this is the award for you. Employees at all levels are encouraged to participate. Here is how to enter:

  • Submit your project proposal between January 6 and February 7, 2025
    • The proposal is a written narrative of about 100 words describing your project or idea
  • Receive a notification of acceptance by February 14
  • Design an infographic showcasing your project or idea
    • Attend an infographic design training session, if needed, hosted by the DHSS librarians
  • Submit your finished infographic by March 28
  • Watch the winner announcement video on April 30

Impact Award 2025 Proposal Submission

The proposal submission form will go live on January 6, 2025.

RIH Day Infographics

If you were accepted as an Impact Award participant, the next step is to prepare digital copies of your infographic and submit them via the form (linked below) no later than March 28, 2025.

Form coming soon.

Save your infographic TWICE:
1) as a PDF file
2) as a picture file (JPG or PNG)

NOTE:

  • Information presented on your infographic should be approved for the public to see - copies will be made available on the library's blog and shared with partners.
  • Do not include your name(s) on the infographic. This allows for fairness in judging.
  • When you submit your infographic, please include the names of each author in the order you would like them to appear on our blog and Kaleidoscope. Please confirm spelling as well as any titles (e.g., MD). This should be in the submission form, NOT on the infographic.

Infographics are graphic visual representations of information, data, or knowledge intended to present information quickly and clearly. Their design makes it easier to grasp complicated concepts and subjects quickly.

Check out our subject guide: "Designing Infographics" for tips, software, and copyright information

Awards

Judges from outside organizations and DHSS leaders have been selected to review the digital copies of the infographics between March 31-April 18, 2025. We’re also asking DHSS employees to share their vote. First, second, and third place as well as a People's Choice winner will be selected.

Infographics will be judged on the following criteria:

All Infographics

  • Originality and inspiration of the project/idea
  • Quality of execution of the project/idea
  • Creativity and originality of information presentation using the infographic format
