September 6 is National Read a Book Day!
Reading can be intellectually stimulating, emotionally comforting, or a way to alleviate stress. It can improve memory, hone your reasoning skills, sharpen your vocabulary, and can stimulate your IQ and EQ (Time Magazine).
It isn't necessary to read a whole book today. In fact, there are many ways to celebrate! Take 30 minutes to read a part of a book you really like, read out loud to your kids, donate books to your local library, listen to an audiobook while you are in the car, or even read an eBook on your phone or computer. The whole point of the holiday is to encourage reading, fiction or nonfiction, as a part of your routine.
