10:00 am EST // Tuesday, April 30
“Sexual Assault Awareness and Response”
Register here.

Although sexual assault is classified as a violent crime and 90-98% of cases are found to be true, it is one of the only crimes in which a victim is faced with proving their own victimhood. Over 77% of sexual assault crimes go unreported in the United States alone, which means that many survivors aren’t even telling their story for fear of not being believed. The way we respond when a survivor shares their story can either make them feel validated and supported or send them into a shame spiral, resulting in shutdown. This presentation aims to shed light on what it means to be a true empathetic witness for trauma survivors – eradicating shame and allowing them to be seen, heard, and held when standing in the aftermath of a traumatic experience.

2:00 pm EST // Tuesday, April 30
“Beyond Solidarity: Allyship in Action”
Register here.

Register here.In this presentation, we will delve into the heart of allyship to explore action beyond mere solidarity. We will explore several examples of allyship in action at Polaris and consider ways for allies in the anti-trafficking field (and beyond!) can continue moving toward meaningful allyship.
