Cozy mysteries are the perfect books to read this time of year, with just the right dash of puzzles and personality. There might be a murder to keep you hooked, but there’s also going to be lots of family drama, interesting settings, and maybe even a touch of romance. Mystery is a literary genre in which the cause (or causes) of a mysterious happening, often a crime, is gradually revealed by the hero or heroine; this is accomplished through a mixture of intelligence, ingenuity, the logical interpretation of evidence, and sometimes sheer luck.

The Anthony Award is named for the late Anthony Boucher (William Anthony Parker White), well-known writer and critic from the New York Times, who helped found the Mystery Writers of America.
