About the Telescope Program

The Orion StarBlast 4.5″ Telescope kit includes:

Note:
Each month the Astronomical League publishes an updated Night Sky Tools. On that page click on the PDF or JPG link for "Navigating the [current month] Night Sky". The chart(s) there tell you what can currently bee seen in the night sky with further objects suitable for binoculars or the Library Telescope. Whether you are borrowing a Library Telescope, have binoculars, or are just stepping outside to look at the night sky, be sure to print it out and use it for a stargazing adventure!


Patrons 18 years or older can check out a telescope for a three (3) week loan period. No holds or renewals permitted.

Each telescope must be picked up and dropped off at the owning library.

The total replacement cost for the telescope is $350.  
(Telescope, finder, lens, eyepiece – $250, Flashlight – $20, Laminated User Guide – $10, Audubon Constellation Guide – $10, Pouch – $10) 

Warning: Never look directly at the Sun through your telescope - Even for an instant - as permanent eye damage could result. Do not point the telescope at the Sun, as parts will melt!

The library is not liable for any injuries as the result of telescope use.
