Keep a record of the books you read to your child. Select the "Read To Me" tab for book suggestions or check with the Children's Librarian at your Delaware Public Library.

Importance of Reading Readiness

Studies have shown that families who start reading aloud to their children at birth help to strengthen their language skills and build their vocabulary – two important tools for beginning to learn to read when they enter kindergarten.

Make a record of what you are reading in a spiral notebook, online, or by whatever method you want. The journal itself will make a great keepsake item and record of your child's interests. If you are able, make sure to keep a record of any book that is being read to your child. This includes teachers and family members.

Use the Summer Reading Challenge year-round to record your books online!
